Hi. I have an hp stream laptop(model:14-cb109ca). Two days ago, it suddenly failed to connect to my WIFI. I tried network troubleshooting. sometimes it says driver problem sometimes it says couldn't identify. then i used HP'S support assistant. it said I need a driver but couldn't download it. Then I tried a 3rd party app(driver talent) it said I'm okay.

I also tested the wirleess module in the firmware. there it said "Wireless module not installed" What does it mean? Is this a hardware or software problem? Can I fix it without de-assembling my laptop? I can use USB tethering. No Ethernet port is available. Thank you for reading.

    Hello, how are you?

My name is Paloma B., I am very happy to be able to try to help you in the best possible way.

I understand that you are having problems with your Internet connection.

I suggest that you go to the website of the manufacturer of your equipment from another computer and consult it by model, download the latest drivers, such as network card, sound card, video card, chipset, Bios, among others and install on your computer.

Hello, I’m Virginia, I have 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends’ PC problems.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems. May I ask which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

Is the WiFi adapter showing under device manager? If not then check further under View>Show hidden devices.

If it does then try reinstalling the driver by choosing Driver>uninstall & then restarting the PC.

Method 1: 1st link isn't working. installed 2nd one. No use.
Method 2: Used Network adapter and Internet connections troubleshooter.

Method 3: No use. (Some Were not on the "Command list")
Method 4: Nothing but Bluetooth when disconnected. Ethernet came when I used USB tethering. Did what you said. The wireless connection didn't come.

    Method 5: No use.

I think this is a hardware problem. Whenever I press the laptop's left side of the touchpad a little hard, the whole screen goes jittery. I think that damaged the wireless module. Please tell me will I be able to connect to wifi If I use these?

Thanks for replying. I will hope to return the favor.

If the WiFi isn’t showing under show hidden devices then the module has failed imo.

You would need to purchase a USB WiFi dongle.

If you can I would recommend a dual band dongle.
