"Bluetooth Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration

Trying to share my PC's internet connection to my android device via Bluetooth.

Phone reports successful bluetooth connection but no internet connectivity.

Mobile Hotspot in windows reports 0/7 devices connected.

Troubleshooter reports:

"Bluetooth Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration <br> ---

and is unable to help further.

Tried this with google pixel and motorla razr5g.

Have done all the usual rebooting, powering off an on.

Windows (10 64bit)has all the latest updates installed.

Any solutions?

So, after installing the "May update", as suggested by MS support, I am now able to connect to Bluetooth hotspot. But only once.

If, for whatever reason, phone disconnects, the hospot in Windows goes into perpetual "disconnecting" loop which only reboot can solve.

Curiously BT connection properties show no data being received by the device despite connection working.

Clearly BT support is broken in Windows but at least I was able to connect my old phone to internet to do what was necessary.

    Thanks all, bye

    Bluetooth Definition (techterms.com)

    Wi-Fi Definition (techterms.com)

What are you trying to do? Have you tried nearby sharing?

drtz, do the same procedure but with this new command below, after it is completed restart the system and see if it resolved the error.

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Hi Juh, I don't have any problems with WiFi. The problem is "Bluetooth Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration"

I've done winsock and IP resets, that didn't help.

    Hey,drtz

How are you? My name is Juliana and I am happy to help you today

This may be the easiest way to fix the "WiFi doesn't have a valid IP setting" problem by running commands in Command Prompt.

    1. In the search bar type: CMD
    2. Open Command Prompt as Admin
    3. Run the commands below at each line of enter:

    ipconfig/release

    ipconfig/renew

    When finished type exit

    1. Restart the system and see if it works again

If the error still persists, do step 2 below:

    STEP 2

    1. In the search bar type: CMD
    2. Open Command Prompt as Admin
    3. Run the commands below at each line of enter:

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

After it completes restart the system and see if the error persists.

I await news, I hope I have helped!
