Hi John,
The Windows Update Installer was stuck at 99% for more than 2 hours. Due to inactivity (I think), the system went haywire and the desktop went black. Nothing except Windows+Alt+Delete would work, not even the Windows button, so I was forced to restart. Now, since the setup was 99% complete, I presume that the installer would have saved those files somewhere. So, can I use them or are they just a waste of space now? Do I have to redo the installing process?
Also, could you let me know how to fix error 0x80070002d, so I can just update normally the next time?
Many thanks, Abhinav.
Is it okay to skip a Microsoft update to jump to the next one?
I'm on Windows 10, version 20H1. This laptop was under repair for a couple of months, hence the outdated version. So, I encountered problems updating to 20H2, and I've tried many fixes but none of them worked. Currently, I'm downloading version 21H1 from Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant. I've skipped the 20H2 update, so is that okay or do I need to download 20H2 too?
P.S. : The error I get while downloading from Windows Update in Settings is 0x80070002d
Thank you!

Yes, it’s okay not to download 20H2 and update your current version of Windows straight to 21H1 using the Windows Update Assistant.
If the issue still persists, Please try performing a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be affected.
**Few things to check on the PC
- Back up your personal data and files to an external hard drive, USB thumb drive.
- Ensure you are signed in or have administrator rights to do a repair install
- Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting
- Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade
Download the media creation tool(Click Download tool now) and save it to your computer.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
Open the tool and select Upgrade this PC now.
Make sure to select Keep personal files and apps.
It might take some time to install Windows 10. Your computer will restart a few times, Make sure you don’t turn off your PC.
Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.
