I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard and a mouse and would like to wakeup my laptop using the keyboard keys. Every time I have to wake up my Dell Latitude 7420 laptop using its inbuilt keyboard which requires opening the laptop and then pressing the keys to wakeup. I would like to use my wireless keyboard to wakeup my laptop. I wanted to enable this function in device manager but the checkbox to allow wakeup is disabled. Could you please help me by telling me how I can enable this checkbox and wakeup my laptop using my wireless keyboard ? I am using Windows 10 OS.

Thanks for your response. I found that I can wake it up using wireless keyboard when it is asleep. However, every morning I could not wake it up. I think it goes to hibernation mode when I leave it on battery during the night. I have switched off hibernation in my power settings and will test again tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Hello, I’m Virginia an independent advisor with 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends’ PC problems.

    Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

If you move the mouse does the PC wake up?

I too use Logitech Mouse (705) & keyboard (K800) & have no problem waking the PC from sleep via the mouse or keyboard.

That is greyed out on my laptop too so is normal.

Are you using 1 or 2 Logitech USB dongles for for both devices?

Have you installed the Logitech Options/SetPoint software?

Are both devices showing under Devices?

Yes, the option is usually under the USB entries within device manager - right click on the USB entries & choose the power tab & turn off allow this device to sleep. If there an option to allow this device to wake the computer then leave this on.

Thanks. Yes indeed the hibernation was the issue. Can I keep my USB powered on while in hibernation mode ? This will allow me to wake up my computer from my wireless keyboard.

    Thank you for the update.

Usually a quick click of the on/off button will wake the PC from hibernation.

Hopefully that is the reason & turning it off will work. Hopefully the laptop doesn’t shutdown due to low battery.
