I accidentally reset the resolution on my screen so it’s super zoomed in, I’ve tried to use ctrl- to zoom out but it doesn’t work. Also I can’t see my mouse so I can’t use that to reset it manually. Does anyone know how to put it back to normal or even just reset the whole computer to fix this ?

    Hello how are you?

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community!

    My name is Marcelo C., I am an independent consultant, I am here to help you in the best possible way.

    Zooming out with a Ctrl key

    Outside browsers, some possible procedures to zoom out of your computer screen using a CTRL key combined with some other keys. See below how to shrink the PC screen using the keyboard:

    While holding down the CTRL key, rotate the mouse wheel down, or make the corresponding movement on your netbook, notebook or ultrabook trackpad.

    While holding down the CTRL key, also press the - (minus sign) key to thereby zoom out.

    Press the CTRL key and then the 0 (zero) key to return to the screen format prior to the appearance of the zoom. The screen will be in its original (“normal”) format.

    How to shrink the Windows 10 PC start screen

    10 is the latest version of Windows and also has the option to change the screen resolution. See below how to zoom out your PC by changing the resolution of Windows 10:

    Turn on your computer and on the start screen (Desktop) select with the right mouse button the option "Display settings";

    Go to "Adjust scale and layout" and find the option "Screen resolution";

    From the options, select the resolution you want. In general, computers come from the factory configured with maximum resolution, so it will only be possible to reduce it.

    I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

    Have a nice day and stay safe.

    Marcelo de C.

    Hi Albie

    Boot your system into Safe Mode, the video card driver is not loaded in Safe Mode and that should allow you to undo the changes you made.

    Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

    On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc.

    Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

    Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode
