Device manager wrongly shows my laptop as being a desktop

It incorrectly says DESKTOP in Device manager when it is actually a LAPTOP. Also has three alerts saying base system device!

The LAPTOP appears to still work ok but it is disconcerting. Help appreciated.

    Good Day The,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

That was the name of your computer that was set, you can actually change it in the settings.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Settings

    -Click System

    -Look for "About"

-Under Device Specification you will see Rename this PC

-Set your preferred name to appear.

Restart and check the device manager, if it will show the name you set.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

Thank you Carlo, much appreciated. The alerts showing base system device are still there but I found a link on U-tube for that and so I may try it or is it best to just leave it whilst it is working?

Have great day too and thanks again.

I'm sorry to have bothered you with it and I appreciate you help very much. It changed the name ok but still shows it as a desktop in devices and printers for some reason. The missing drivers don't seem to be causing a problem and so I may just leave it alone as it's seems to working. Kindest Regards, Trev.

    Good Day The,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, have you click on Apply after your Rename it and restart your computer?

If not please do so and check the task manager.

if issue persists, can you please take a screenshot of the name of your computer in the Settings using the steps I posted, and share it to us .

With regars to your question, definitely yes, you can leave it as it is, it does not affect anytime on your computer. Rest assured that your computer is working, you have nothing to worry.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
