Touch screen calibration is not working

I recently bought a drawing tablet, however, I cannot seem to get the calibration for the tablet working whatsoever. I installed all the drivers and my computer is fully updated, so that's not the issue. The issue is that when the calibration screen comes up, I cannot get it to respond to any touches. No matter where I touch on the screen, the crosshair doesn't change, yet the pen works perfectly fine outside of the calibration screen. I can't seem to figure out why.

Thank you, again, but like I have said, the issue is not with the tablet or the pen. The issue is with windows 10.

When I move the pen on the tablet screen, the mouse moves, when I tap the pen on the desktop or any other app, it registers as a click and responds accordingly. The drivers are all installed, the drivers are all up to date, the tablet is connected securely and the screen is clean, and disabling and enabling drivers does not help. I made sure of all of this before I posted my initial question.

The issue arises when I try to set my tablet as the touch screen as well as when trying to calibrate the pen touch for the screen, and only when trying to set the tablet as the touch screen or trying to calibrate the pen touch. Windows 10, as a whole, will not register me tapping on the screen when trying to do either of these things. The tablet will register me touching the screen, as it will show a small circle indicating that the screen has been tapped, but Windows 10 will not change my touch screen to my tablet or let me calibrate the pen touch. Windows 10 is the issue, not the tablet or the tablet pen.

Thank you, but the issue is not with the tablet or touch screen itself, nor is it with any other programs running and certainly not because of any viruses or malware. I don't think it's with the PC make and model either, but if you must know it was custom built and not bought pre-built, it should have enough ram and processing power to operate the tablet.

The issue is that the pen touch calibration simply just doesn't respond to any input. Like I mentioned before, the pen will interact with the mouse and on screen elements when outside of the calibration screen, but when on the calibration screen it seems to not detect or respond to any input at all.

Hope this makes the issue more clear.

Hi SS. I'm Greg, a Volunteer Moderator and 10 years Windows MVP here to help you.

What is the make and model of the PC?

To get you started: 1) Try all fixes which are working for Touchscreen here:

    https://www.urtech.ca/2018/09/solved-the-ultima...

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/fix-unresponsi...

    1. HID Compliant touch screen driver cannot be found after reinstall or updates is a known issue with fixes here:

    https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/hid_com...

    https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/...

https://appuals.com/hid-compliant-touch-screen-... (Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro and Reimage ads)

    1. If nothing above helps then Update the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag - from the sticker on the PC.

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS/UEFI firmware (very important), network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

Also find and install the latest touch drivers for your model, even if they are current. If that doesn't help then right click touch device to Uninstall, restart PC to reinstall. Each manufacturer has a different name for these touch drivers which are explained in the links at top, but also can be found for your model by googling the "full make and model + Touchscreen driver" or reporting it back here so I can find it for you.

If this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/...

or the Nvidia Update utility here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e...

or the AMD autodect utility here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/P...

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

    1. Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    1. If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest version. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to choose if I solved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Did you even read the steps I gave you? They are almost all for WIndows, not the tablet or pen. I only suggested to contact the manufacturer's Support if the other steps I researched for you did not work.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

Try fixes for cannot calibrate drawing pad touchscreen with pen:

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/calibrate-surfac...

    https://www.gechic.com/en/windows-10-touch-scre...

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/calibrate-wind...

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-calibrate-to...

    https://artfixed.com/how-to-fix-your-graphic-ta...

If those don't help, have you contacted the tablet's manufacturer's Support for help with this. Remember that if you're within a year of purchase, your device has a one year Manufacturer's Support and hardware warranty so I'd use that to get it fixed and running well before it expires, or insist that they replace it.

If not then I'd still try accessing their Support even if you need to extend your warranty which manufacturer's like Dell make easy and affordable.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.
