alright, so I get on this morning only to find out I can't hear audio through my headset. I can play audio with the built-in speakers, I can use the microphone on my headset, but I cannot get audio to play through it, it just stops. I've reinstalled drivers, I've reset, I've looked in my sound settings, when plugged in it says it's still playing audio. in the picture below you can see that there's basically no difference, but one is with the headphones plugged in and ones without the headphones plugged in. it looked like this since I've gotten the laptop but only now it's acting like this

I'll list exactly what is going on. since I've had my pc my headphones were always recognized as the default speakers (Realtek(R) audio) I've had my laptop for almost two years now.

I have the Realtek audio console installed and when I plug in my headphones it gives me a prompt that asks if I plugged in a headset headphones or a mic, I have always used headset which uses both my mic and headphones. and those options still show even though it refuses to play sound so I know it connects

last night before I went to bed I did the same thing I've always done, once I was finished watching some YouTube I closed my laptop and went to bed, I got up and my headphones just refused to play audio out of the blue, I tested my mic and that works perfectly but I still can't hear anything. I know they connect because when I unplug I get that familiar electrical popping that you hear when you connect or disconnect a set of headphones.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all of the audio drivers even the ones that I didn't need too just in case. I am using the HyperX Cloud 2 gaming headset without the soundcard because the sound card refuses to connect via usb. there's no volume or mute options on my headphones.

there was no update last night that I know of, but I did update some time today to see if that was the problem, it was not.

in summary, the pc and the headphones act like there is nothing wrong, mic works, it asks if I just plugged in a headset, it tells me I've disconnected my headphones, I am so confused and I have no idea what to do
