The Windows Explorer on my PC very frequently opens as 'Restored', i.e., not maximized. There is no option to always open it maximized in 'Properties' in the context menu.

    Hi arvipat,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

This is to continue with the suggestion provided by the previous expert. Give this a try:

    1. Open Windows Explorer (File Explorer)
    2. Maximize it.
    3. Hold down the shift key and don't let it go then close the explorer window by clicking the X button.
    4. Let go of shift.
    5. Open Explorer again and see if it is opened in max.
    6. Check if the issue still persists.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

Hi, I am Van. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

Normally Windows Explorer will automatically open on its last setting. So once you close Windows Explorer in maximized, it is also in maximized when you open it.

You can also try the steps below, and see if this can help.

    1. Open Windows Explorer.
    2. Right-click its icon from the taskbar, then right-click File Explorer then select properties.
    3. In the properties, Run option, click the drop-down arrow then select maximized. Click Ok to save the settings.

    Best regards,

    Van

Thanks, Van. I always close the Explorer window in its maximized state.

The issue i mentioned occurs when Explorer opening is triggered by another app. For example, when it opens automatically after a zip-folder is unzipped or after i save a scanned image/document.

Anyway, i have followed the steps you mentioned with the File Explorer properties in its context menu, but the issue persists when Explorer opening is triggered after a scan.

Hi, I'm Robinson, an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you.

When one app is opened triggered by another like when you scan an image/document, the setting to how will open and where will open is managed by the software that makes this call. Unfortunately, in this case, you can't change it, the option to open that maximized or resized on the center of the screen or the last position is set by the developer of the software, who developed the scanning software.

    Hi arvipat,

Kindly close all current file explorer windows. Then open it again in maximized, then minimized it or closed it. Then perform the scan. When it triggered does it open in restored view?

    Best regards,

    Van
