Looking to project my Desktop to my Smart TV, do I need a Wireless Display Adapter?

Hello,

I'm wanting to project the screen on my Windows 10 Desktop to my Roku TV but don't know if buying a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter will do the trick or not. I'm positive my TV supports screen mirroring/projecting. When I go to connect to it on my PC I get the "Your PC or mobile device doesn't support Miracast, so it can't project wirelessly" message. When I run dxdiag it says: "Miracast: Available, no HDCP."

So my question is, if I were to buy a Wireless Display Adapter, would it solve this problem and allow me to wirelessly project from my PC to my TV? If so, which one is recommended?

Thanks

This may be the issue here. You still need to have wifi connection enabled for Miracast over ethernet as a backup source. Other requirements include having a system updated to 1703

TCP port 7250 should be open on router

Both devices should be on same network.

Quote : On Windows 10 PCs, the Projecting to this PC feature must be enabled in System Settings, and the device must have a Wi-Fi interface enabled in order to respond to discovery requests that only occur through the Wi-Fi adapter.

    GTX 1060 supports miracast.

DRM or digital rights management is form of copyright protection to prevent copying of movies softwares etc and some cards donot support playing such content.

How are you connected to the internet on the computer?

    Hello Lukas912,

I am Jaspreet Singh an independent advisor.

Miracast: Available, no HDCP Means the connection is available but you cannot play DRM protected content. This could be due to incompatible gpu or cpu. Please share the details of your system to check the same.

I've recently switched over from using a wireless network adapter to using an ethernet cable, and haven't been able to project on either type of connection.

    Hi JaspreetSingh08,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, and Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7600K CPU @ 3.80GHz 3.79 GHz.

    What's DRM protected content?
