Windows 10 System Files Takes Up Too Much Storage

(real bold letters for tl;dr)

Hey, I have recently run into issues regarding windows 10 system files on my GL553VE laptop. A few months ago I realized that I was running low on storage and bought a 1TB internal hard drive and installed it, and when I transferred all my apps/games/files/images to the hard drive I managed to clear out 40GB of space from my 120GB main C-Drive. I used my pc fine for a few months until 1 month ago when I realized I had less than 1GB left of storage on my C drive for no reason, even though I always used the new E drive (the 1TB one) for any new downloads/installations after I had installed it, and I deleted all the old Windows files as a result, clearing out 10GB. Then just last week-ish, I got a notification AGAIN saying I had less than 3GB of space left on my PC. when I checked the storage, I found out that the windows system files was taking up a whopping 55GB from my main C-Drive, and when I searched up how much this should typically be, I found out that it should be 15GB-ish. Is there a way I can free my storage? Thanks! (note that my windows.old file takes up 0kb of space, and I do constantly hibernate my pc.)Methods I have already tried:1) Windows Disc Cleanup using the "Disc Cleanup" tool in administrative tools

2) Setting the default download trajectory and almost every folder default directory to be on the E-Drive3) Cleansing out temporary files from both settings->storage and %temp%

4) Deleting old Windows update files (as said above)![](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/83c6a34d-393b-430c-9d55-525da7cf6930?platform=QnA

My main issue is not that files and apps are taking a lot of storage, it's rather that my windows system files are taking up too much storage. As I said, I've already transferred all my apps and files to my E drive. Here's a pic of WinDirStat, which is basically something similar to the app you suggested. Hope this can help you guide me through

I installed the thing and checked, but I still don't really see a file that's taking up mass amounts of space. Just a bunch of small system files, each less than 1 GB, somehow totaling up to 55GB. As I said, my issue is that the Windows System files is taking up too much space. I'm trying to find a way to make this not be the case, not trying to just free up storage in general.

    Good Day Liannejh04

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can use the tool called Treesize to check what are the apps or files taking most of your storage space.

    Here's the link to download.

    https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free

Once downloaded and installed, open the app and identify what are the apps or files taking most of your storage space.

Check the things you don't need, right click on it and hit "Delete" to free up space.

Once done restart your computer and check.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
