Keyboard randomly stops inputting LETTERS & NUMBERS for SOME applications, but windows key, tab, etc. works

This has been happening on and off for a while now.

My keyboard (Razer Blackwidow Elite) will randomly stop inputting letters for most applications. Now there are a couple of strange things about this that have completely confused the hell out of me:

  • Letters and numbers do not work, but tab, windows key, function buttons, etc. do work
  • I cannot type in most applications - Discord, Word, Firefox address bar - but I CAN type WITHIN a webpage, eg. the Google search bar on google.com
  • This happened regularly (every day) for a few weeks, then it stopped for a good month or two, and now it has started happening again
  • When it happens, if I wait for a while then it will eventually start working again (restarting also temporarily solves the issue)
  • It's not my keyboard because if I plug the keyboard into another computer, everything works fine, then if I plug it back into my main PC it still does not work
  • There doesn't seem to be any obivous trigger

This is so frustrating!! What on earth is going on? If someone can help me solve this I'll be forever greatful!

Cheers,

Oscar

EDIT: It seems that I can only type within SOME webpages, not all. For example, I couldn't type in the reply box to this thread, but I could type my login credentials on another website. The mystery continues...

    Hi Carlo,

    Thank you for your help.

I just tried everything you suggested, however the problem still occured.

While trying to type this reply I noticed another strange thing, I couldn't type in this reply box, but I COULD type in the google search bar and I COULD type my login credentials on a different website. So it's not even that I can type within all webpages, it's only some webpages.

    So strange!!
