"Change Where New Content Is Saved" **NOT WORKING**

  1. I have gone to my storage settings and changed where my apps, documents, musics, pictures, videos and maps are saved by default.

(Note) By default, everything originally saves to my C: Drive which is an NVMe M.2

  1. I changed the settings to save everything to my D: Drive which is an SSD (SK Hynix)

THE GIST OF THE ISSUE IS THIS:

Every time I install any app on my PC, everything still saves to the C: Drive and not the drive that I have designated. I wanted to dedicate my NVMe for Windows, however I am constantly having to navigate to my storage settings to check where things are downloading because the settings simply did not change anything. How can I fix this issue?

Most software needs to be installed on the same partition as Windows.

Your personal files (Documents, Music, etc.) are easily moved to a different partition, which is a good thing to do, as long as the partition is on an internal hard drive. This is easily done through the Location tab. The thing to remember is that you don't only want to move those files to the new partition ... you want the new partition to be the default location for saving new files. I'll gladly show you how it's done.

You would rather use the Location tab that I mentioned earlier. It's easy and it works. If you're not familiar with the Location tab, I'll gladly show you how to use it.

From the Location tab you can change the default destination for these folders:

C:\Users\your user account\Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Music, Pictures and Videos

When you download from the internet with a web browser, the destination is wherever you told your browser to save. Web browsers give you two choices: (1) a default folder that you specify; or (2) 'Ask me every time.'

    sfc /scannow [Enter]

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth [Enter]

Which version of Windows you are using?

    1-Press Windows+r

2-type winver then click on OK

If you are using a version earlier than 21H1 you can download the update assistant on this link and install the latest version.

My NVMe is already partitioned: one C: drive and one E: drive. Windows is installed onto the C: drive of the NVMe. I have already set the default for things to save onto my other internal harddrive (SSD) as you can see on my screenshot that I attached. However, when I go to install anything or download anything, the files are still only downloading onto my C: Drive and not to my designated D: Drive.
