How to disable Microsoft Text Input Application

Every few minutes, a process called "Microsoft Text Input Application" starts and uses 100% of my CPU.  I can end it via the Task Manager, but I have to do this every few minutes.

I tried to disable it by going to Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics and Feedback > Improve Inking and typing recognition, and turning it off.

This didn't disable it and it keeps coming back when I'm using Word.  It makes Word and the PC unusable.

How can I prevent this from happening?

    Hi Juliana,

    Thanks for your response.

I don't see Virtual Keyboard Service and Script Panel in services.msc.

However there is a Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service.  Is this the same thing?

Update: it seems this is not the same thing. I disabled Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service and the problem persists.

Could Virtual Keyboard Service and Script Panel be called something else?

    Kind regards,

    Stacy

In my case the following worked:

    Rename the following folder:

    C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\InputApp

    To something else, for example:

    C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\InputApp_

Note that you rename just the InputApp directory, not the parent MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy

To find the parent folder, you can right-click on the "Microsoft Text Input Application" and click "Open File Location".

Note that this will take you to the parent directory of InputApp.

Hello, I found this post just when I found the folder it was located in because I was locating at the same reddit post. Location:

    C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy

The folder seems to contain ScreenClipping AKA the snipping tool, I would assume if you doesn't use that application then you can proceed to rename.

*NOTE: After disabling Microsoft Text Input Application you may not be able to use windows shortcuts such as Win+Shift+S (for screenshotting) or Win+V (to open clipboard).

Step 1: Go to task manager.

Step 2: Expand ''Microsoft Text Application''.

Step 3: Right click the expanded process.

Step 4: Click on ''Open File Location''.

    Image

Step 5: Windows Explorer will open and you will see the location of the file in the form of a folder

[Also do not close Task manager].

Step 6: On the highlighted folder, press F2 on the keyboard and make sure that you copy the name of the folder, and just to be sure, right click and copy the entire folder.

Step 7: Paste the folder somewhere (for example in you downloads folder) just in case.

Do the following Step Quickly and Carefully.

Step 8: Using Task Manager, end the process and add any letter (more preferably a short word) so that you remember what you added and press Enter.

Please do tell me if you found this helpful.
