An error occurred while processing your request

After recently updating a piece of my computer hardware, I am now experiencing an error where my product key is no longer recognized.
I go through the following steps that all the support pages link to.
What puts my problem solving to a halt is when I click the troubleshooting button and then press the link to confirm that "I have changed hardware on this device recently" normally pressing this button is supposed to redirect me to entering my account information.

Instead of that, the redirect opens a white loading page, which is quickly followed by an error message, and then the page closes about half a second later.

I was able to screenshot and record the error message:

"An error occurred while processing your request.
Reference #30.564296b8.1627372714.2ec7de8c"

To answer future questions that I'm sure will come up:

  • The hardware that was changed out most recently was the motherboard.
  • I have a prexisting windows 7 pro digital license which I have upgraded over the years and have used without ease up until this past week.
  • This license has now upgraded to the point where it is a Windows 10 Pro license.
  • My browser of choice is Google Chrome, sorry Microsoft
  • I have gone through many remedies like soft resetting my system, enabling UAC, and simply rebooting.

My overall goal is to be able to reactivate my account with the preexisting key that I own. I'd appreciate not having to buy another copy of windows 10 pro seeing as I already have a working copy already.

Thanks in advance for anyone working on this, I greatly appreciate it

    Hello Dave,
I have had this product key from a windows 7 installation disk I bought for myself a few years ago and have had it ever since.

I don't think the issue lies with my product key, as I've changed out my motherboard before and have reactivated my license just fine.

I've never once seen this type of error present in the "I have recently changed hardware on this device" redirect link.

For my work we do updates like this hundreds of times a year where we change out motherboards and update with the preexisting windows license, but this type of error in the redirect link not going anywhere is something I haven't seen before. Normally it's supposed to prompt you to then enter your account info, and so on.

    Hi Carter,

Seeing as you have a Retail Windows 10 licence key and the licensing service is not accepting that, then you need to phone Microsoft Support in your local area and have them activation that Windows 10 installation for you, they are the only ones who can see into your Microsoft Account and the licence you hold.

    Hi Carter,

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this.

You indicate your Windows 10 is based on a Windows 7 digital licence, that did not exist in Windows 7, it was only introduced in Windows 8.

Where did you obtain your Windows 7 Pro licence, was that pre-installed on a PC, or did you purchase a Windows 7 Pro licence separately to the PC and if so, do you have that original Windows 7 Pro Product key?
