Why can't I get Windows Update KB5004945?

I have Windows 10, version 21H1, OS Build 19043.1055 on my desktop. (21H1 Feature Update and Quality Update KB4023057 were installed on June 12, 2021.)

My Windows Update is configured for automatic updates. During the past three days, I have repeatedly checked my update history but there is no indication that KB5004945 has been installed. I have used the "Check for updates" button many, many times but it always indicates that my computer is up to date.

I saw another comment suggesting that a person look in the Uninstall Updates to verify that KB5004945 was installed. Apparently that check worked for that person but my Uninstall list does not show KB5004945 having been installed.

Any idea why I am not getting the KB5004945 update?

I am very reluctant to use the Microsoft Update Catalog to manually install KB5004945 because I don't know what I am doing and because I don't know why the update is not being offered to me through Windows Update.

FWIW, I was able to update my laptop without any problems. This issue is with my desktop.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I think it's better to install the update from the Microsoft Catalog since you already have the required update.

You can download it from the link below.(2021-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5004945))

Windows 11 automatically updated my Win 10.

It was not satisfactory so I restored Win 10

Sometime later along came Win 11

I restored Win 10 and stopped the automatic with the 7 day delay.

    Two items,

I have tried everything to use my HP printer to no avail.. I was told KB5004945 was the problem but I cannot figure out how to resolve the problem.

Second, Win11 does not let me use critical software. Stop it from reloading.

I am old and need Real Help

    Paul:

Again, thank you very much for your assistance with my problems regarding the KB5004945 update.

As you recommended, I downloaded and installed the update manually using the Microsoft Catalog. Following the re-start, I checked my Update History and verified that the update has been successfully installed.

Thanks for your help with this situation and for confirming that the Microsoft Catalog is an appropriate remedy for my situation. This was particularly helpful to me as I was fearful of causing more problems by using the Catalog option. Your reassurance allowed me to finally resolve this update problem.

    Paul:

I greatly appreciate your help with this problem.

My Update History indicates that KB5003173 was successfully installed on my computer on May 12th.

The version of KB5003173 that was installed was for Windows 10 Version 20H2. As a reminder, I was updated to version 21H1 on June 12th. I don't know enough about these things to have any idea whether that information matters but I share it with the hope that it helps solve this problem.

If you think that I need to install KB5003173 again--this time for Version 21H1--will you please advise me how to proceed with that process? When I try to use the Check For Updates button, I am told that my computer is up to date.

    Thanks.

I think it is required to install KB5003173. If you don't have that update try to install it and see if the KB5004945 can be installed.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.
