WHEA Uncorrectable Error when playing online games

Hey all,

I've been getting WHEA Uncorrectable Errors after a few minutes of playing online video games like Apex Legends and Starcraft 2. However, it works totally fine when I play offline games for hours like Nier Automata, and totally fine doing anything else. I have had this computer for about 3 months now, and only actively used it for 2 months (waited a month for a GPU). Deciphering dmp files has been confusing, to say the least.

Amongst the things I've checked:

  1. CPU: Prime95 for over half a day returned no errors but it still crashes when playing online games. Removed and cleaned and still crashed.
  2. GPU: Had a spare GPU and it also crashed when using the spare. That eliminates the possibility that it is my RTX 3070Ti. Swap ports and still crashed.
  3. RAM: Memtest for 4 hours, everything ran to over 400% and no errors. Still crashes.
  4. SSD: Crystal Disk Info returned no errors but it crashes nonetheless.
  5. Power Supply: Bought identical power supply and used it and still got the error. Also tried a totally separate plug point and still errors.
  6. Software: Updated all drivers (GPU, default optimized settings for bios, wifi card, mobo, chipset, etc) and still crashed with WHEA Uncorrectable error.
  7. WiFi card: Updated to latest driver and still crashes. Swapped ports and still crashed.
  8. Motherboard: N/A
  9. Cables: N/A

I hope the community has an idea what's going on. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Prakhar!

Thanks for the swift response! My PC is at "Optimized Default Settings" option in the BIOS, and I checked my CPU and it is set at 3.8Ghz. My GPU cooling seems fine and temperatures is around 60C while gaming. I will monitor my CPU temperature and let you know if it's around 90c/high when gaming. It peaked at the 90c threshold when I ran Prime95.

In the meantime, if you find any other potential culprits, I'm all ears.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you’re facing WHEA Uncorrectable Blue Screens on your PC, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

We will certainly look into this for you.

I would like to know, if you’ve overclocked the processor.

Ideally, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR means that a hardware error has occurred. You may want to refer the article on How to fix WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and see if that helps.

Based on the analysis of dump files, the Blue Screens are caused by AuthenticAMD.sys, which is a driver file for the processor. If you have overclocked the processor, I would suggest you to reset it to the base clocks and see if that helps.

In addition, you may want to check the cooling system of the PC.

    Regards,

    Prakhar Khare
