hello.
i can not find the specific built-in printer driver for my Brother laser HL1430 printer under windows/set up a printer drivers list.
Any idea of which one I can use instead, please?
I tried Brother 1210w and 1218W but they do not work.
I have connected this printer to USB-1 port.
Thanks in advance for your help.
The printer works perfectly fine with an old Mac ibook.

Hi,
I think I may have found the solution to your problem. I've been reading lots of posts and stumbled across a fix that has worked for everyone that has tried it so far.
So fingers crossed.
Make sure your printer is turned ON and plugged in via USB to your computer.
Using your keyboard, press the Windows Key + i to open Settings.
Click on Update & Security.
Click on "Advanced Options"
Make sure that "Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update windows" is switched ON.
Go back and check for updates.
Afterwards click on "view optional updates"
And you should see something like "Microsoft - Printer I 6/21/2006" Check this and install it.
Then if you go to Add a Printer you should find your Brother HL-1440 is listed there.
Let me know how you get on.
Kindest regards,
Neil
Dear Neil.
You are an absolute Star!
You found the solution and it works 100% fine under Win10!
I would not have been able to find this without your help indeed.
Thank you so so much.
A new life just starts for my printer, myself, and it will not go to the land field.
I wish printer makers and MS make more straight forward and clear instructions / drivers for all printer owners, easy to find on the net. But they are probably not quite there yet.
Take care,
Best
Hi,
Just out of interest, have you tried printing anything? I'm just wondering if the printer installed and no notification happened.
If you try and print something you'll at least know if the printer did install.
Let me know.
Kindest regards,
Neil
Hi, my name is Neil, I'm an independent adviser and a Windows 10 user like you.
The printer driver for your Brother HL1430 is installed automatically upon connecting it to your computer and switching the printer on.
Please note that an internet connection is required to download the driver (probably why it cannot be found locally).
Also, it is important that the printer is connected directly to your computer and not through a USB hub as this can interfere with the connection process.
The best way to set it up is to make sure your computer has a good internet connection, plug the printer into a USB port, and then turn the printer on. The printer driver will be installed automatically.
If this doesn't happen or hasn't happened before, try a different USB port.
You can find more information and troubleshooting here: https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=a...
Let me know how you get on.
Kindest regards,
Neil
