Hey there, y'all!

I have bunch of users, who stuck with high-loading of CPU, during editing of a document using O365's Word. I tried to google issue and found a few solutions, that worked for usual users, but not corporate one.

Here are some solutions that already were tried by users and specific of user's workflow:

  • Department members are using Collaborate mode to edit documents (so option "Use Office applications to sync Office files that I open" - need to be enabled - OneDrive's settings -> Office tab (as far as I understood, the option is required to use coworking mode);
  • Enabled "Tracker changes" function (department need to have Change tracker, since they are editing docs together);
  • Disabling of auto-save option in Word application didn't helped much;
  • Cleaning of cache of Office365 also didn't helped much;
  • I didn't try changing/deleting of Normal.dotm file (AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates), since it may harm user's workflow (and won't help much, as far as I understood);
  • Disabling of "Spell check" didn't helped much.

Also, one of users noticed that OneDrive making copies too regularly. But in didn't found any settings related to it in OneDrive's client or setups in O365 Admin Centre (to provide its administrator with proper info).

So maybe anyone had deal with such issues or have any ideas about how to deal with loading of CPU.

    @Vlad Olekhnovich

    Could you please go to File > Account > Product Information, share us with the Office version number.
    Please make sure Office is updaed to the latest.

    Besides, does this issue just occur with co-authored files that store on OneDrive?
    Or does this issue occure with all files no mater local files or personal OneDrive files that are not shared with oterhs?
    I suggest you run Office apps in safe mode, and then open files for a test.
    Safe mode could help us on identifying an add-in or extension that may be causing a problem on startup.

    Any updates, you could post back.
