    Hi Darlene,

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this.

WinZip Registry Optimizer has absolutely nothing to do with Windows or Microsoft, it is a 3rd party utility.

If you have that utility installed on your PC you should completely uninstall it, you should never use any type of Registry optimization tool, they are a major cause of blue screens.

I will echo what DaveM121 said. It is not part of Windows and using it or any other program that purports to clean the registry is unneeded and very dangerous.

WinZip is a fine third-party program. There's no need too get rid of it. It's the WinZip Registry Optimizer that you should get rid of.

You should almost never just delete a program. Instead, uninstall it. Go to Control Panel/Programs and Features, and follow the instructions there.

There is no Windows 12 upgrade. Might there be one some day? Perhaps, but not any time soon. Windows 11 will be released around the end of the year, and it will be probably be several more years (if ever) before there's a Windows 12.

Thank you! I have been very suspicious of it suddenly appearing in my Windows profile, etc... some time ago! I have reached out in several Microsoft directions to no avail so after reading other info in Microsoft 'helps' I decided I definitely shouldn't include it. NOW, can I just delete it out of my Windows??? and that is it - or is it more complex than that. I am not 2021 tech savy so really need any necessary directions in capital font! I have been so overwhelmed with everything that has been tossed at us this year, I am hoping to see a Microsoft statement explaining in detail what we should now have in our 'Home Windows upgraded Plan. Is it a Windows 12 upgrade? I really do appreciate all the additional printed help at this point!

Having to open up a new FB account and losing all of the info from my original account, caused many of my friends not follow my change due to the new FB independent division of FB friends and mesg friends being identified as contacts and therefore losing the original connection. There was no mention of this that I ever found until far into the changes - with many of my friends believing we were still friends and therefore not acknowledging my necessary new friend request. FB throughout still shows my requests as a recommend to cancel my request!!!

I also purchased my first smart phone in Feb and with an 'unlearned' Tablet addition about a year before that, all numbers are mixing together in my brain anytime I have to deal with any of them -- because, of course, the only thing left is my land line which is also tied into everything else!

So, now after all my rambling, I thank you for your help. I think if you tell me what to do to get rid of WinZip without causing any problems, it is a good day! You are appreciated and needed!

    D Bannister
