Operation failed with error 0x0000011b - when trying to add a printer

Until recently, my wife's PC could print via the printer on my PC. This is no longer possible.

When I open Windows Explorer on her computer, I can see the shared printer on my PC.

But when I try to connect to it, the connection fails with the message "Operation failed with error 0x0000011b".

Both PCs are running the latest version of Windows (21H1) with all available updates installed.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Good Day Mike1234DR,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you.

You can try to visit these links and try these steps.

Once you perform those steps restart your computer and check.

If issue persists visit this link.

    Hi Carlo T.

The tread you linked me to led to the problem getting solved without deleting any KBs.

The solution was on both PCs to Navigate in the Registry to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print", add DWORD RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled = 0 and then restart the Print Spooler (in my case by rebooting both PCs).

Thanks to everyone who contributed to finding this solution.

Too bad Microsoft hasn't seen fit to solve the problem themselves as very few people are comfortable editing the Registry (or even know how to).

    Mike
