What moron programmed one drive to lock me out of my one drive account so that it does not sync? I am a Microsoft 365 subscriber and a MS user since the beginning. This is ludicrous!

Hi Emmett. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activaiton, here to help you.

If you want to complain to Microsoft use the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu where developers are tasked to process consumer feedback. But Microsoft will not even see it here because this is a tech forums where we are mostly volunteers trying to help solve your problems.

Access errors and Admin issues are common in Windows 10 and almost always mean a corrupted account.

    1. Try these fixes for the denied access error in OneDrive:

https://windowsreport.com/onedrive-access-denie... (Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro and Reimage ads)

    1. Try resetting OneDrive here:

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/reset-onedrive-i...

    1. Right click OneDrive cloud icon in System Tray at right end of Task Bar, choose Settings, then Accounts tab, then Unlink OneDrive. Restart PC, go into Start Menu to open OneDrive sign in again to see if it stabilizes. Tutorial here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/36246-link-...
    2. If not then Uninstall OneDrive in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft OneDrive. Restart PC.

Then reinstall OneDrive from a fresh download here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us//microsoft-365/...

If you prefer the OneDrive Store app then you can re-register it from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

    1. Finally, unlink OneDrive on the PC where this is happening:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/36246-link-...

Restart PC then sign back into OneDrive to set it up:

Make sure you have the Backup Folder Protection and Files on Demand set as you want because these settings can go askew:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/116029-turn...

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-onedrive...

    1. If this fails then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

7)) If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version 1909 which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m....

If you want to keep your Documents, Pictures and/or Desktop folders sync'd in OneDrive you can use Folder Protection/Backup in OneDrive settings as shown here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/116029-turn...

If you want to save space and keep your files in the cloud with only links on the hard drive to download them, use Files on Demand here:

    https://www.pcworld.com/article/3233488/windows...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to rate my post, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
