C-disk full of cab-files in windows/temp

The C-disk is full of cab-files in windows/temp folder. I have googled the issue and found this: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/cabxxxx-files-found-in-windowstemp-folder/2e86137e-7e6b-4cb7-9a3c-4ee73f665742 In this thread the solution is deleting the oldest .log file in <windows>\Logs\CBS and then

delete all CAB-files in Windows/temp

However I could not find any .log-file in <windows>\Logs\CBS. In this folder there are only Cabinet files and txt-documents.

All files except 3 starts with CbsPersist_xxxxxxxxx.

The other 3 files are: CBS.txt, DeepClean.txt and FilterList.txt.

Any ideas?

    Hi,

So I checked the windows installer module. Service status is already "STOP" and Startup type is manual.

I deleted all .log and cbs files in windows/temp and windows/logs/cbs. But they seem to regenerate.

    Any other ideas?

Delete ALL of the files in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS (or move them to a different location if you think there is some remote possibility that you'll ever look at one of them). You probably will have to stop the Windows Modules Installer service first.

See the explanation and directions here, which are a bit more detailed than those you found: https://www.computerworld.com/article/3112358/windows-7-log-file-compression-bug-can-fill-up-your-hard-drive.html
