That is correct, that will not result in any data loss when you disconnect that virtual drive.

I found a "Microsoft Virtual Disk" connected in Disk Drives in Device Manager. I did not set this up and am wondering how it attached. I also recieved notification about disk space but thought nothing of it until I saw the connected virtual drive. Can someone please explain what the purpose of Microsoft virtual disk even is, and how/why it creates itself?
And what data is stored there and lost when disconnected. thank you.

Hi No-NameCoc! Yes if you opened any ISOs on your PC it will be mounted as a virtual drive there.
Hi No-NameCoC
ISO Buster, Daemon Tools, Power ISO... etc, there are so many.
Did you double click that ISO to mount the ISO, if so, that would have caused it.

I am Dave, I will help you with this.
Do you have any VM, ISO mounting software or other utility installed on your PC that would have created that virtual drive?
Thanks for responding Dave. No, I do not have any of that installed on my PC that I am aware of. Can you please give an example of what type or common name of utility or mounting software would create this?
I have had Win 10 ISO downloaded to my PC - but I am not sure that qualifies for mounting software? Does it?
