Will increasing the 'number of processors' increase computer speed? My current 'number of processors' is set to 1, should i change to '2'? Will I get maximum usage out of the computer if increasing or should it be left alone?

    Hello how are you?

I`m Marcelo de C., an independent Advisor. It is a pleasure to help you today. I know how frustrating it can be for you, but I will do my best to help you :)

    which is your processor?

sometimes it doesn't pay to do this because even if he can do more jobs at the same time the time of each job will also increase, an example it takes 30 seconds to do a task, if you do this it will do 2 tasks in 1 minute and 30 seconds.

But you can test if it doesn't get good you come back.

I prefer to change the frequency of the processor because then yes it will do things faster, but it's good to be aware of the temperature and if the processor/motherboard will hold without giving the blue screen.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a nice day and stay safe.

    Marcelo de C.

a good thing to do is always leave your computer with a clean boot, as it reduces the number of programs it opens at startup.

    to do this just:

In the taskbar search box, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.

Important If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from following these steps. Only use the System Configuration utility to change advanced boot options on your computer with the guidance of a Microsoft support engineer. Using the system configuration utility can make your computer unusable.

On the System Configuration Services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services and select Disable all.

On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.

Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and select Disable.

    Close Task Manager.

On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart your computer, it is in a clean boot environment.

    other tips are:

    CLEAN THE CACHE FREQUENTLY

    UNINSTALL UNNECESSARY PROGRAMS

    Turn off visual effects

Windows 10 includes many visual effects, from animations and shadows to more advanced effects such as blurs and transparencies. All part of ‘Fluent Design’.

Go to ‘Settings’, click ‘System’ and then ‘About’. In the space on the right under ‘Related settings’ click on ‘System information’.

In the window that appears, click ‘Advanced System Settings’.

In the ‘Performance’ section, click on the ‘Settings’ button. Click on the ‘Visual Effects’ tab and uncheck all options.

I think SDD. How can I tell? What else can I do to speed up the computer? There is a lag when opening files or documents or browsing? I already cleaned out the computer and did the disk cleanup and deleted temp files, etc.

in this case you wouldn't even be able to increase the frequencies and increase the number of processes would not be so recommended because it is a weaker and older processor. Do you use hdd or ssd?

If you use hd it would be a good idea to buy an ssd which I'm sure would help speed up the system.
