I would also like to request built in functionality in Windows for Hotkeys. Particularly to mute the mic.

To do this with keyboard shortcut you would have to download a program, otherwise the only way is to do these steps in windows or change where you are using the microphone.

If you wanted to do it through an application, it's very simple:

    link to the program

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/micmute/

    1. Download the MicMute program and install it on your computer.
    2. Once run, it adds a microphone icon to the system tray. When the icon is black the microphone is off and when it is red it is on. Right click on the icon and select the “Setup Shortcut” option to create the hotkey for on/off.
    3. The default shortcut key to turn the microphone on/off is “Ctrl + Alt” on the left side of the keyboard, however if you want to replace it, just press the “key combination” you want to use.
    4. Click “OK” and ready, now whenever you want to quickly turn on/off the microphone, just use the hotkey. Whenever you turn the microphone on or off on your computer, a notification appears on your desktop. In addition, it will also issue a sound notification.

    Hello how are you?

I`m Marcelo de C., an independent Advisor. It is a pleasure to help you today. I know how frustrating it can be for you, but I will do my best to help you :)

If your microphone doesn't have a mute button I recommend you mute it in the software you're using to talk, but if you don't want it you can do it in 2 ways.

    1- go to settings>privacy>microphone.

There you disable the microphone for certain applications or for all applications.

    2- Go to settings> system> sound> input> device properties.

There you can disable or mute.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a nice day and stay safe.

    Marcelo de C.
