With the February update to Windows 11 - you have the option to disable MS start to feed from the Widget Settings. Requires Windows 11 23H2 at least.
How to disable news and interest in Windows 11 widget
I want to keep the widget on my task bar, however I don't want the new stories to show. I've hide a bunch of them and they still end up showing, but I'm constantly having to hide them all since there are sooooo many. How do I disable the top stories, and the news and interest without turning off my widgets. I ONLY want the weather to show.
I've uninstalled microsoft news but I'm still seeing the news stories.

I would suggest that you completely remove the the Widgets app from your taskbar - see here -and pin the Weather App to Start / Taskbar.

2021-10-24T10:53:15+00:00 What I'm saying is NONE of these work. I hide the stories and the stories still show (plus there are thousands of them). Plus I DO NOT WANT TO GET RID OF THE WHOLE WIDGET, since I want the other widget, however I DO NOT WANT THE NEWS AND INTEREST WIDGET.
You keep also giving me links for windows 10 which is useless since I have windows 11.

2021-10-23T00:46:49+00:00 This does not help me because I want to just move the news part in the print screen I posted. I've tried the first link. But it removes the whole widget. I want to keep the widget in the task bar, but I DO NOT WANT ALL THE NEWS STORIES/TOP STORIES showing at all but I WANT the widget.
Hopefully this clarifies more of what I'm asking for help with.

2022-01-30T12:47:01+00:00 No, your "answer" doesn't answer anything. Please, at least do the favor of reading and understanding what people ask. Obviously, there's no way to disable the news stream in the widget area (this is what the OP asked about, not removing the widget button itself from the taskbar, the question has nothing to do with the taskbar). MS probably makes some money off this, or there's some other reason but they don't want to allow us, users, to decide for ourselves whether we want it or not.
So, read the question first and then you can answer the truth: at least as of now, there's no way to disable it.
