I posted a previous question about the problem with my pc, it would not recognize the SSD the OS was installed on.

I got a new SSD drive, after I discovered the problem was a "critical process died"

I tried to install Windows with a recovery USB drive but got this message-see attachment.

Can anyone help on what I need to do next?

Thanks in advance

You need to download tool to a PC or just run it from site. and use it to create bootable USB.

    Hi Tom,

My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

bfadi.sys is Brocade FC/FCoE HBA Stor Miniport Driver. If you can bott in safe mode, uninstall this software.

Otherwise boot from Windows installation media, run command prompt and delete the file mentioned.

Got into command prompt, did not knowwhat to do so here is a screen cap of what I saw and the Windows version which is an older version, so that may be a problem.

I did not see the error message about that driver today, I do not know why

How do I delete the miniport driver from command prompt? Would that then let me reinstall the Windows recovery USB I have?

You may run command prompt when booting from Windows installation media, selecting not install but Repair and find command prompt in advanced options.

What exactly edition are you installing?

And you may run diskpart tool from command prompt, clean the drive using "clean" command, and then install Windows to unpartitioned drive.

    Hi Igor,

    thank you for replying.

How do I go into safe mode? Remember there is no OS on the pc, I just replaced the SSD the OS was on.

I tried twice yesterday to reinstall Windows with a recovery USB which I had used before to reinstall Windows on that same PC and both times it failed, the second time at over 95% of the installation complete.

I downloaded this yesterday, but have not tried it yet:

    Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

Another thing I noticed after the failed attempt to reinstall Windows, the process partitioned the drive into four parts. Will I need to delete these and try again, or can I install over them?

Finally, how do I run command prompt?

    Thanks again
