Free upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10, please do again

Hello!

I have a genuine Windows 7 that I have been using for many years. I really love this operating system, and when Windows 10 came out I didn't want to update. But after the end of support in 2020, Windows 7 has some difficulties when using the operating system. It's a shame to buy Windows 10, considering that I bought genuine Windows 7, especially considering that millions of users got Windows 10 for free.

After the release of Windows 11, users can also get it for free. Please make it possible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7, this is sorely lacking.

I haven't upgraded to windows 10 at that time. But now using windows 7 is very difficult.

I want free update from 7 to 11. As other users have done.

Microsoft never looks at these Windows 7 forums.

Others haven't done that, as Windows 7 machines are too old and lack the hardware requirements

You need 10 to get a free upgrade and even if you got the free upgrade to 10, your Windows device would not be suitable for 11..

You can still upgrade your Windows 7 system to Windows 10 for free as long as you still have a genuine Windows 7 license activated! And the good news is, all of your personal files and programs will be kept and not removed in the upgrade process assuming the upgrade process goes well.

Just download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (Under "Create Windows 10 installation media"), agree to the Terms and select "Upgrade this PC": https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10#mainContent

Make sure to back up any important files in case something unexpectedly goes wrong in the upgrade process!

    Hopefully this helps!

You may or may not still get 10 for free, but you first have to see if 10 is compatible with your device.

The free upgrade to Windows 10 offer from Microsoft expired on the 29th July, 2016.

You will have to contact MS support and they may be able to assist you with a free upgrade to 10..

    A word of advice:

You should always have your data backed up to at least two external media destinations (external hard drive, DVDs, flash drive) in case of system file corruption and/or hard drive failure

If you read those Microsoft's system requirements for 10, you will find that if you only go on them you will be sadly disappointed in performance.

For reasonable performance should have at least:

2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor.

4 gigabyte (GB) of RAM for 32-bit or 8 GB for 64-bit

    500GB hard drive

If you are upgrading to 10 at least make a system image backup for two reasons.

    1. Some people report they don't get the free upgrade and want to reinstall 7, 8, or 8.1 depending what you attempted to upgrade from..
    2. If you don't do the system checks and 10 is incompatible with your device and it becomes inoperable.

You should have taken the update when you had the chance and then just returned to Windows 7 as Windows 10 would still be free for you. Why would they offer a free update to an OS that they are now ramping down support for and then also from one they ended already? Makes no sense lol.
