Laptop internal microphone not working in Windows 10

My laptop's internal microphone seems to not work at all, in spite of trying everything I could. When I use wired headphones, the bar in the microphone in 'Sound' does work, and bluetooth headphones seem to work as well as a separate microphone device in the list in 'Sound'. I tried the following and the problem still persists:

  1. Did all the pending Windows updates (which were not detected for over a year due to an error)
  2. Automatically updated microphone drivers
  3. Updated microphone drivers with Audio Endpoint
  4. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
  5. Manually downloaded and installed Realtek audio drivers from my laptop's website
  6. Checked all the settings as suggested in various forums and solution videos, such unmute mic, allow mic permission, enable devices, troubleshoot, etc.

The troubleshooting of audio had returned a message 'Generic audio device detected', which I couldn't solve, in case that helps. In spite of all this, my internal microphone still seems to not work. However, I can often hear a vague noise feedback when i turn on the 'listen to the device' option in microphone properties, but does not register on the sound bar for 'Microphone'.

Kindly help me solve this as I have been suffering without microphone on my laptop for over a year now, and hoped that the pending Windows updates would finally completely solve this issue, which it didn't. Thanks in advance!

    Good day Carlo,

I appreciate your immediate response. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver as you suggested, but the issue still persists: the internal microphone does not respond. Is there anything else that can be done, or does it need a hardware checkup now?

    Sincerely,

    Danish
