Windows Updates Always cause Performance Issues until you install them.

I have talked with 16 people on my team, and all of us are having the same issue with Windows. Every time an update, even Defender updates, is sent to our computers the computer lags out until we install the updates. This is apparently not a new issue with Windows, and I was able to track the issue back for the past 3 years at least. Microsoft apparently knows of this issue, and is using it to try to promote Windows 11. They refuse to service their products properly, and refuse to fix this, which leads me to believe they have it there on purpose. People should question Microsoft's intentions here. Is this an attempt to force people to spend money, yet again, or to keep control of the market share for Operating Systems? Not sure, but it is a clear issue, fix the lag, stop spamming us with updates that slow our computers while we are working. Don't tell me that I need to set my PC to auto update to fix the issue, my computer is set to auto update, and it still gets the issue unless I give Windows total control of my computer, which is scary Big Brother stuff. Stop spamming us, and fix the lag issues, you know you're doing it, and yet you don't want to mess with your clients, you want to control them.

Hi Kenneth. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

If you want to complain to Microsoft use the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu where developers are tasked to process consumer feedback. But Microsoft will not even see it here because this is a tech forums where we are mostly volunteers trying to help solve your problems.

This is strictly an end-consumer forums. If you are in an organizational environment then you should ask this at our sister forums for IT Professionals, Q&A forums here: https://docs.microsoft.com/th-th/answers/index....

There are also equally good (and sometimes busier) IT Pro forums here:

    https://www.techrepublic.com/forums/

    https://www.spiceworks.com/

Presently all ways for consumers to control Updates are here:

    https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-con...

    https://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-take-contr...

If you've had enough you can shut them off by this method which is the only stable way to turn off Updates for as long as you want:

https://www.howtogeek.com/226722/how-when-and-w... This way you can turn them back on long enough to Update when you have time to do this.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I've never experienced lag when Windows Update downloads an update.

To check if I was some kind of oddity, I asked around from my friends and cousins who are here in the house. None of them have experienced lag when an update downloads.

Where did you read that "Microsoft apparently knows of this issue"?
