Hello I recently have begun to have these issues since 8/29/21

It started with this error while I was playing a game. My screen went black but I could still hear my friends in discord and the game audio.

I waited a while to see if just the game simply crashed but my monitor never turned back on so I restarted it which brought back the video.

I looked it up and it said it was likely the drivers which I think I had updated maybe 5 days prior. On the Nvidia forums, it said to run DDU and install the previous one.

I have repeated this process all the way down to driver version 466.47 over the course of about a week and a half. I doubt this version will change anything so I am asking for help if anybody has any ideas I would be happy to provide more details or information.

I have many more crashes with DIFFERENT error codes which lead me to believe my biggest fear is true that it might be hardware-related instead of software.

If you are able to help I appreciate it and am able to supply any info that could help.

Also if there is a better place to asks these questions please let me know.

Thank you!

I played for about 1 hour and 30 minutes did some work and browsing then a little bit more gaming and these are my voltage readings after 7 and a half total hours. I think it's safe to say it was the PSU causing the crashes given how stable these 12v readings are compared to my other one. If anybody has similar problems to mine in the future and suspects it is the power supply I used HWINFO64 and open hardware monitor to monitor voltages and played some games to see how stable my voltages were. I saw online that people say these softwares are not very accurate but in my case I think they were. Depending on the mobo you can also check the readings in the bios. When I called techincal support at Thermaltake they had me do this and it showed a below normal 12v reading. Thank you Jan J. for the support over these past couple of days I hope the problem is fixed.

    -David :)

Just an update, I have purchased a new psu and it should arrive in two days as I need to solve this problem asap. Until then I am going to try the following:

    -reseat gpu

    -reseat all connections

-test each individual ram module(i have two)

I am considering doing a fresh install of windows as well in the unlikely event it is a software-related issue, I would like your thoughts on this and any advice. I do not care if I have to completely wipe everything.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the information. The dmp files indicate the Nvidia driver. Try to clean install the latest driver. Also, try reseating the graphics card.

    1. If you are overclocking reset all settings to their default and disable xmp.
    2. Run DDU in safe mode

    Select Clean and restart

    Once the drivers are uninstalled

Install the latest Graphics Card driver

If that didn't work. power reset/cycle your computer.

Press the power button for 10 seconds to turn off

then unplug your adapter for 30 seconds

    then plug your adapter.

    start your computer.

    1. Reinstall these drivers Chipset, Network, Sound, and also BIOS. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer support site.

    Once installed restart your computer.

    1. If you installed any third-party antivirus or cleaners. Completely uninstall them using their dedicated removal tool. Then restart your computer.
    2. This behavior can occur for one or more of the following reasons

    Insufficient system cooling

    Insufficient system power

Defective parts (memory modules, motherboards, etc.)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dqyGSxogIL9MlPxzTVIqEgNpjcZHHLQK/view?usp=sharing Hopefully, that works. I should add I was playing a game after I made this post and it crashed maybe 10 minutes in, I restarted and tried to play again and it crashed again but it was different this time. My screen went black and it automatically restarted my pc for me, before this I had to physically restart. I think it blue screened but didn't show me the screen since I guess the driver failed. I hope that helps.

Thank you very much for the help!

Hello, I'm Jan and I'm happy to help you today. I'm sorry that you are experiencing these problems. Please check if your computer produces minidump files when it crashes.

    Locate this folder C:\Windows\Minidump

    then zip the dmp files

Upload the files in Onedrive, google drive. etc..

    Share the link here,

Bug Check 0x117 - VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED bug check has a value of 0x00000117. This indicates that the display driver failed to respond in a timely fashion. If you already tried to clean install different versions of the driver and it still crashes, it can also indicate a hardware problem.
