Right so, This is only a year old laptop and upon booting, my ram immediately goes up to 74%. I checked my task manager and i have almost nothing that is intensely running in the background.
My pc lets me use up only about 2gb out of the 8gb that it has too. So, right now i have my task manager open and i check the "users" tab, my total ram that i am currently using is about 1gb, but the percentage shows up to 80% used. Any sort of help would be appreciated

    Hi Crevan,

My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

Please do not rely on Processes tab data. This tab shows only a part of used memory.

Please run Task manager, open Performance tab, select Memory on the left and show screenshot.

Detailed memory usage analysis may be done using RamMap tool.

If possible, show its main tab too.

Also show us the information at "right-click START, System". Use the Copy button under Device Specifications & paste it to us...

    Device name PCRsComputer

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz 1.70 GHz

    Installed RAM 8.00 GB

    ...

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points

Left of the comma on System Type is the bits of the Windows OS that is installed. If yours is only 32-bit it won't be able to use all 8 GB. Right of the comma is the architecture of the processor. If it is not x64, you will be stuck with 32-bit.

But Igor is right, show us the page he requested. Here is what mine looks like with 8 GB installed...

Evidently, you have an integrated graphics which is using a part of the memory. But I don't think it really matters since you can use the rest of the 7.81GB of RAM. There's an option in the BIOS / UEFI to change it. Here's a video on how to let your device use the full RAM without giving even a small part of the RAM to the graphics:

I don't know whether you are running apps that are RAM hogs, maybe a game, or maybe you are are running a virtual machine which sounds like it would use RAM. Does everything run well & fairly quick? If so, you could let it be. Otherwise, an investigation is in order.

Thats the thing though. There really isnt anything huge running on my processes to make my Ram this heavy. The largest apps i am using right now are just 1 tab of Chrome, Teams and OBS studio. Which for some reason accumulates 94% of my Ram.
No it doesnt allow me to run smoothly, i can only max open around 4 apps at a time which makes using this pc very tiresome.
