Laptop not reading CDs/DVDs on external player

I have a Pavilion laptop with Windows 10 that has worked with my external CD/DVD player/burner for two years. Suddenly it is not reading the media on the disc and saying that they are blank when they are pre-recorded. I have tried this on several discs and one other external CD player but still no luck. The drive says its up to date and working properly but it just won't read the media. What should I do?

Still no luck but my laptop is a HP Pavilion 15-cs 1xxx.

I have run every type of diagnostic test i can think of and it seems to be working perfectly. But when the CD/DVD player is plugged it, it acknowledges the device but doesn't read the media.

-Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!

-First, you need to test your CDs/DVDs on another Windows 10 device or another device with a CD bed to make sure that the files present on it have not been corrupted.

-Keep everything up to date with the system (right click start, settings, update and security, check for update. Also visit the video card/mother board/BIOS manufacturer's website to see if there are any drivers to update)

-What model and brand exactly of the laptop? maybe I can help find the drivers on the manufacturer's website.

-You can also try letting Windows reinstall generic drivers:

    Windows+X> device manager>DVD drive> right click>Uninstall. Restart the laptop.

-Over time, it is common for the CD/DVD drive to stop reading the media. Dust buildup on the drive lens is one of the most common causes of this problem. The most effective solution is to clean the optical drive directly, as the famous CDs with bristles do not always carry out a thorough cleaning.

-Feel free to leave your opinion, marking as answered if the answer helped, or leaving more details so that we can continue the service, this is very important to us.

    Graciously,

    Claudeir
