HP Pavilion all in one PC with built in camera called “HP High Definition 1MP Camera" NOT working

Since the last Windows upgrade, it seems that my HP HD camera stopped not working. I have tried to uninstall, disable and it seems it might be using the wrong driver, which I am not able to change.

I have Windows 10 Home, 64 bit; 2 cameras 1) HP High Definition 1MP Camera and 2) HP IR Camera built in. The IR camera seems ok but the HD camera doesn't work. When I use the Camera app, it keeps turning on - off. I cannot use zoom and MS Teams and it does not come up in the device list. I now only have 'USB video device' listed, which seems a generic camera, hence it doesn't work.

I cannot seem to find the right driver anywhere online either.. Can someone help with explaining how I can fix this issue? Thanks a lot

    Well, let's see if the problem was caused by the latest Windows update.

    Windows+i> update and security> recovery> roll back Windows to previous version.

    If it is not possible that way, then use Windows+R> type> appwiz.cpl> press enter> show installed updates> select latest update> uninstall.

    If it doesn't, to definitely know if there is a problem with the system, we'll do a recovery keeping your files, only Windows will be reinstalled:

    Windows+i>update and security>recovery>start now. You can keep your files.

    If it still doesn't solve the problem, I suggest you take your laptop up to the manufacturer's warranty or have it serviced.

    Hi Claudeir, thanks for your help. Uninstalling the last 2 updates has resolved the problem by using Windows+R> type> appwiz.cpl> press enter> show installed updates> select latest update> uninstall.

    I will be checking on this today and tomorrow to see if any issues return but for now it seems this has fixed the problem.

    Million thanks for your help.

    Hi Claudier,

    Thanks, I have tried the above suggestion and it didn't work. The camera worked in the camera app at first, but it didn't work in zoom and Teams.

    In zoom I could see myself when I go into settings/camera but it fails to start the camera in the meeting. It's the same in Teams, I can see myself before joining a call but it fails to start in the meeting. And after trying the camera in zoom & teams, now when I went back to the camera app, it also doesn't work there either. Thoughts?

    Thank you, Timea

    I'm happy to help, to find out if any third-party software in the background is interfering, clean boot:

    -Clean startup:

    Clean boot is for you to determine if a background program is interfering with your system or to optimize your system load.

    For clean boot follow the steps below:

    On the Desktop, press the Windows + R keys simultaneously to open Run;

    In the Run Menu type msconfig command and click OK to open System Configuration;

    On the Services tab, check Hide All Microsoft Services and Click Disable All;

    Click Apply and OK;

    Restart the computer.

    NOTE:This procedure disables all third-party services and programs. You can later, if the problem is solved in this way, enable the programs and services that will start with Windows, selectively, instead of keeping them all disabled. If the problem returns after activating the startup of a specific service or program, the problem is exactly in the startup of this software and it is recommended to remove it.

    -Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!

    -Who must provide the correct drivers in this case is the device manufacturer, go to the manufacturer's website and look for the laptop model to update all possible drivers, not only the camera, update also Bios, Chipset, etc:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

    -Keep everything up to date with the system (right click on start, settings, update and security, check for update.)

    -Also follow these guidelines:
