Should I disable memory compression on HDD for FPS Stability?

So, Im a simple man, I got a PC to play games, but I cant play properly because I have stutters all the time for example in GTA, when im driving fast thorugh the city my framerates drop, and frametimes spike like ****. I was thinking the problem relied on my RAM, because it doesnt load the game, and my GPU cant render the frame, thats why it stutters, but my RAM is totally fine, no errors 8 GB 2400 mhz Adata Dual-Channel. Then I found this thing called memory compression, as I know it takes unused RAM, compresses it into a block and puts it on my harddrive in a specific File. But when I drive very quick through the City it has to load the Map that is compressed on my HDD, because I have a HDD it takes forever to decompress and send it back to the RAM. So I was thinking, what about upgrading my RAM to 16 gb 3600 mhz and turning it off? Should I do it and would I still get lags?

My PC:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (no OC)
Motherboard: B450 Aorus Elite v2
RAM: 8 gb Dual channel 2400 mhz Adata

GPU: 1050 TI (yes I know, but its enough for GTA and I dont see why I should get lag spikes, I should get low FPS not spikes ****)

HDD: seagate st1000dm010-2ep102 (idk how fast)

I can't say I'm sure, because it can be such a big deal. The best thing would be to test... I don't know if you have a friend who could lend you his RAM (compatible with your motherboard), or go to a store and ask if it's refundable, if it doesn't work better.

But personally extra RAM is never wasted.

Hello , sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

Are your graphic options at their lowest when you have this problem or are they at "recommended"?

Just remove the shadows and reflections if possible, you should see a good difference.

The minimum requirement is 4gb of ram and the recommended is 8gb. But with time, the game has improved the graphics, so it's possible that some elements require more power than others.

The compressed memory feature in Windows 10 is designed to improve the performance (responsiveness) of the system due to storing part of the memory pages in RAM in a compressed form. It helps to reduce the number of read / write requests to the memory pages in the slow (compared to RAM) paging file on a hard drive. The required data are extracted from the RAM faster even though additional CPU resources are spent to compress/decompress them.

I don't think you should turn it off as I don't know what the repercussions of it might be. It could cause out of memory errors as it may effect the level of commits.

it didnt really fix it, still getting stutters. Are u sure its RAM? Imma upgrade to 16 gb 3200 corsair vengeance pro then. I just dont want to buy the wrong thing, it would be wasted money. Im thinking, my RAM is running full and it writes the game on disk which is super slow.

Yeah probably 16 gb of ram would be better. But first let's try something else.

    1.

Try running the game in admin mode

GTA V may stutter if it cannot have certain permission of certain game files on the system under user mode.

-Right-click the shortcut of your game’s launcher and select Properties.

-Click the Compatibility tab and check the box Run this program as an administrator. Then click Apply and OK to save your changes.

-Relaunch the game again and see if it works properly.

    2.

Also, you can disable the full-screen optimization feature in Windows 10 to fix the issue.

-Navigate to your GTA 5 game folder.

-Locate the GTA5.exe file, then right-click on it and select Properties.

-In the Compatibility tab, check the box before Disable full-screen optimisations. The click Apply and OK to save your changes.

-Relaunch the game and see if the problem has been resolved.

    3.

    Turn Off VSync

The feature, however, is known to cause stuttering issue for many players. You can turn VSync off in GTA 5 to see if that helps.

    -Go to GTA 5 Settings.

    -Click Graphics.

-Find VSync and turn it OFF.

-If it’s already OFF, try turning it ON, then restart your game and turn VSync OFF again.

Now, restart your PC and GTA 5 once again to see if the problem still exists.

I've turned down every setting and I also changed the DirectX version in the game, I tried limiting the FPS, I played around in the NVIDIA Control panel for quite a while and tried to tweak everything to its lowest, my Graphics card is not the Problem, I get about 80 FPS on highest settings just with stutters, I get 120 on lowest just with stuters :/ I would even play GTA on 40 or even 30 FPS just without Frametime spikes ._.

Also it doenst really happen in other types of games like rocket league or minecraft for example, its big games, open world games mostly, GTA, Just Cause 3 etc. Thats why im thinking the RAM is the problem or something with the RAM, is my RAM maybe just too slow or not enough?

    Thanks for the Reply.
