Hi, So I have this HP laptop (HP-15-bs0009nl), and it has the following specs

AMD A9-9425 APU
AMD Radeon R5 iGPU

8 GB RAM DDR4
Windows 10 Home 20H2

I checked and it has TPM 2.0, UEFI and Secure Boot. The APU is a bit weaker one, yet it is indeed dual core and has a clock speed of 3.10 GHz. I checked through Windows 11 Health Check App and Windows Update and it says Windows 11 is incompatible. Any ideas? I heard this thing that says Windows 11 makes AMD CPUs slower, so will my laptop will be even slower if I install, and what about updates? and on top of that, can I even Install Windows 11??? I need help please

  1. Windows 10 is supported until 2025.
  2. As long as security requirements are met except the processor, you can install Windows 11, offline if you understand the risks including no updates. See:

None of the AMD A and E series of CPUs appear on the Windows 11 compatibility list. No one has ever been able to explain the "why" of any of this, other than vague generalities, or just "it's not on the list." Because in fact, during the Windows Insider test period, Windows 11 reportedly ran just fine, on many older processors.

I've always been convinced that this is a ploy to sell many new PCs, with Windows pre-installed.

Looks like the A series AMD were not particularly fast, but then again, many processors approved for Windows 11 are not very fast either. Still, if you want to give Windows 11 a shot, it's a doable do. You can find instructions online.

Also, no, Windows 11 is not a resource or CPU hog, compared with Windows 10. Nor was Windows 10 a resource hog, compared with Windows 7. So I'd ignore claims that you need lots of processing power, to run Windows 11. The raw performance requirements are very easy to meet.

Regular updates from Microsoft? They aren't promising any. They're saying no updates will be available. So far, I've seen people comment that they are still getting updates. But that could stop anytime.

I have this same exact problem.

There's a page that shows all supported processors and unfortunately it doesn't have this processor(which is funny because it has about 100 other AMD processors but not this one)

Does anyone know when windows 11 will add support for this processor?

I don't quite understand why they wouldn't add support yet.

Your CPU is not meeting requirements for Windows 11 its as simple as that. If its not on the list its not supported.

If you insist on running Windows 11 you can search the internet which provides work arounds for this. It typically involves hacking the registry before upgrading or performing a clean install of Windows 11 from a USB drive.

That CPU was originally released back in Feb 2017 so its not a really new processor. There are CPU's half that age that did not make the cut for Windows 11. Look at it this way, Windows 10 is supported into 2025 so by that time you will need a new PC anyway.
