Unable to set up my pin and can't login to my computer

Please help.

I am trying to access my computer. It says I need to setup my pin due to security reasons. It won't let me do that because it says I am not connected to the internet. However, it keeps giving me an error that I am not connected to the internet but I am. It says in the network settings I'm connected to my router by ethernet. I even tried wifi and it isn't working. Any suggestions. Thanks

Thank you for the response.I tried that. After selecting selecting safe mode with network. My PC just rebooted and took me back to page where says it needs pin to startup. You may need to restart PC. There is no other option. I do that and we're back to the same problem. So, in others words, I can't access safe mode with networking for some reason.

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

You can boot in the safe mode then try to set the Pin.

Run PC in the Safe Mode

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options > Startup Settings.

    5-Click the Restart button.

6-A window with various startup options will show up.

7-Press 5 or F5 on your keyboard to choose Enable Safe Mode with Networking.

8-Wait for your computer to boot and try to log in

In the Safe mode check if doesn't have any corrupt files on the windows.

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows Powershell (admin)

    2- Type these commands.

    sfc /scannow (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (and press Enter)

3- The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is repairable, you can use the /RestoreHealth (Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth) argument to repair the image.

Then try to enable set the PIN

1-Click on Start then click on Settings

2-Click on Accounts then click on Sign-in options

3-Click on Windows Hello PIN and click on Add

Check if you can enable the local account Administrator.

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options > Command Prompt

5-Type this command and press enter:

    net user administrator /active:yes

6-Close the command prompt then click to return to the first screen and click on Continue do normal boot

7-In the login page you should be able to log in using the Administrator account

Once you logged with the Administrator account check if doesn't have any corrupt files on the windows.

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows Powershell (admin)

    2- Type these commands.

    sfc /scannow (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (and press Enter)

3- The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is repairable, you can use the /RestoreHealth (Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth) argument to repair the image.

If this procedure fails too, reset Windows should be the only fix.

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Click on Reset this PC then select to keep the personal files.

Note: This procedure only will keep the personal files, all software and apps need to be reinstalled.
