Intel I5-7600k and Windows 11

My computer passes the PC Health Check app for everything except for my processor. The processor in my computer is an Intel I5-7600k @ 3.8Ghz. This is not that old of a processor. Why would it not be supported by Windows 11 and is there a plug in replacement that is?

My computer passes the PC Health Check app for everything except for my processor. The processor in my computer is an Intel I5-7600k @ 3.8Ghz. This is not that old of a processor. Why would it not be supported by Windows 11 and is there a plug in replacement that is?

The precise answers, as best as I can determine:

    1. Unclear why these 7th gen Intel Core processors are not supported. We see only guesses and generalities, nothing believable. In fact, in testing, many Windows Insiders have confirmed that Windows 11 runs just fine on these processers, and they meet all of the security requirements. But Microsoft is sticking to its decision. Of course, such restrictive rules will obviously generate bigger demand for new PCs, eh? That's the only answer that makes sense to me.
    2. Your processor does have some plug-in upgrades or downgrades available, yes, but none of these will make it Windows 11 "compatible." Check out this list, and only pay attention to those that have a high probability of working:

Thanks for your reply. That cpu is Kaby Lake and is a 7th generation. There are plenty of cpus on the supported list that are much older.

Windows 11 only supports 8th gen or higher processor, your processor however is a 7th gen meaning windows 11 is not supported.

    hi,

Microsoft requires a processor of at least an 8th generation to have a good experience with Windows 11. If your device does not meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11, it is good to stay at Windows 10.
