Installing the Xbox Console Companion and launching the new minecraft launcher app from this companion app solved the problem for me. For some reason, starting the app manually or from the new Xbox app made so the minecraft launcher couldn't connect to the minecraft services, but from the old app it seems to work.
Microsoft account won't connect to Minecraft services on Minecraft: Java Edition Launcher
Whenever I open the Minecraft launcher signed in as my Microsoft account which is my only account it will show me a message that says: "Oh no! Something went wrong, and we couldn't connect to Minecraft Services" and the Play button is replaced with a Play offline button but once I click that to play offline, it will say I need to make a profile even though I have a profile and have been playing the game until this error occurred. But once I click to create a profile, it will sign me into the Minecraft website and bring me to my account profile screen where it will give me the message: "Something went wrong... press reload to try again." and once I click reload, nothing changes. this error happened on Friday, May 28th.

2021-12-14T21:34:45+00:00 Same issue for me, it said it couldn't connect to the minecraft services and I only had the option to play the demo even though I have bought minecraft long ago. My solution was to download the Win7 Version of the launcher from the minecraft website and log in with my migrated microsoft account.
For some reason on the new win10/11 launcher it doesn't work. -

2022-08-12T03:12:27+00:00 If anyone has read to page TEN of this, since that's where we are now, I may have a fix for you.
First off this is 100% an issue on Microsofts end and I get sick of these answers pages being filled with completely valid complaints while a giant corporation like Microsoft pushes the blame off like it's someone else's fault.
For me, the issue was the Xbox app. For one thing, the Microsoft store was installing the launcher directly, when it's apparently supposed to redirect you to the Xbox app. When I restarted my computer and thus actually got it to do that, it repeatedly opened and closed the login screen super fast. I left it doing that while I did some googling and to my surprise it stopped when it was done loading everything (slowly). Once it was done the launcher still wasn't working. I then manually signed out of my account in the Xbox app, signed back in, and all was well.
Hope this helps someone.
At no point did I even question that this was Microsoft's fault, not Mojang. The standalone launcher from Mojang works fine because it's your software going haywire, not their account system. Get your **** together, Microsoft, this is pathetic.
