Audio Services Not Responding - Windows 11

I don't have any sound through the speakers or headphones of my HP laptop. Running the Windows troubleshooter came up with the following message - "Audio Services Not Responding" , "Restart Audio Services", "Both the Windows Audio and the Windows Audio End Point Builder services must be running for audio to work correctly. At least one of these services isn't responding."

I tried restarting both of these services, and setting them to "automatic". No joy. In case it matters, I had this problem begin while I was still running Windows 10. I hoped that the upgrade to 11 might fix the problem. It didn't.

I would appreciate any advice.

TNX,

Ron

    Good Day Amsuco,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, I checked your manufacturers website and it appears that your manufacturer did not yet release a driver for Windows 11, proceed with the steps below.

    -Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controllers

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

    -Right click and Uninstall

Once uninstalled, go to this link below and download and installt the driver.

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88001-88500/sp...

Once downloaded and installed, restart your computer and check.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

    Hey Carlo T.

That did the trick. Thank you SO MUCH! This problem has been kicking my rear end for the last couple of months. I tried downloading another driver and got nowhere. I can't help but be curious what driver you found, and why it worked when others didn't. (That information might also help somebody else that comes along with this problem.)

    Hey Carlo T.,

Thanks for trying to lend a hand with this. I didn't come up with an older driver on my system to roll back to. Perhaps that's because I recently made the switch to Win 11. When I attempted to download an older driver from HP, I was told that it wasn't supported on this OS version. Looking for an updated driver using HP Support Assistant didn't come up with anything either. I'm currently running Realtek Audio driver version 6.0.9025.1 dated 9/8/2020.

In your second set of suggestions, the speakers were already set as enabled. Everything looked correct except for "Allow Application to take exclusive controls on this device". That box was checked, so I unchecked it and clicked OK. A reboot later, there was no change. Still no audio.

My system is a HP Notebook 15-da0014dx running Windows 11 Home version 10.0.22000
