Camera not working on Lenovo Yoga

Hi,

My PC camera stopped working and when I check the device manager it says the device is working properly. I can open up the camera app, the camera led flashes quickly but cannot take or show an image. It also doesn't work on zoom. I've updated the device driver, without errors showing up but the device manager shows this message under Events: "Device USB\VID_0BDA&PID_57F8&MI_00\6&d284e6a&1&0000 requires further installation. "

Can you give me any guidance on this?

Thank you .

Does your laptop comes with built-in lens cover?

Does your laptop comes with built-in laptop shutoff key.

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

Here is some troubleshooting that you can try and should fix the problem.

Check if doesn't have any corrupt files on the windows.

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows Powershell (admin)

    2- Type these commands.

    sfc /scannow (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (and press Enter)

3- The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is repairable, you can use the /RestoreHealth (Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth) argument to repair the image.

Check in the privacy settings if the apps have permission to access the camera.

1-Click on Start then click on Settings

2-Click on Privacy, then click on Camera

3-Check the permissions to access the camera

Another option that you can try is to re-enable the camera in the Lenovo Settings app.

1- Launch the Lenovo Settings app using the Start menu search bar. In case, you have not installed it already download it from Windows Store.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/lenovo-...

2- Here you need to click on the Camera icon available at the top right side of the window.

3- Scroll down to the Camera settings page until you find Privacy Mode. Here turn off the Turn Privacy Mode.

4-Reboot and try to access the camera again

Microsoft's camera app has a button to switch to the rear facing camera (i.e. like a cell phone with front and back camera). If you mistakenly press that button then it would try to find the rear facing camera, found nothing and be completely black on screen.

Try this driver from Microsoft Update Catalog --- the 18.6 MB one.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=realtek%20camera%2010.0.22000.20203

Download the cab file, open the cab file, copy/paste all contents into empty folder, go to device manager, update the realtek camera by pointing it to this newly created folder.
