I Suddenly Have Massive Sound Issues - Speakers Very Quiet And Unbalanced

I've had a HP laptop for a couple years now. The last month or so, I've suddenly been experiencing issues with my laptop's sound. It's abnormally quiet and unbalanced between the left and right speakers.

I used to keep my volume at around 30, which seemed comfortably loud enough there. But recently I've been experiencing a huge sound decrease. I essentially need to turn my volume up to 60, even all the way up to 100 at times, to be as loud as where it used to be at 30. This means my laptop cannot get as loud as it used to either, my total volume is essentially halved. This is extremely frustrating, as I use my computer daily for gaming, video, and music related things.

Every once in a while, they will function as normal, but I can actually hear the volume disappear when I'm doing something. It also seems like the right side speaker is generally more quiet than the left, which never used to be the case before.

I think this is a driver issue, but I am unsure. Unfortunately since it's a laptop I can't swap out the speakers to see if that's the issue. I have already tried the HP support boards, but nobody there was able to help me. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, running diagnostics programs, changing sound settings, etc - nothing works.

Anyone have any solutions, or know why this may be happening?

I went through all of this, and unfortunately it did not work.

Repairing/reinstalling the drivers works for like a second, but then it gets really quiet again, and then is stuck like that. It's like somebody is holding down on the volume button. I need to turn it up twice as loud as it should be to hear anything.

I ordered some replacement speakers to replace them. Maybe it's hardware, not a driver? I still lean towards driver because they work for that split second when I reinstall them. But I've tried everything driver related, so I don't know...

    Good Day NidstangUTB,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, please try to plug the speaker using other device for us to check if the issue is with the computer or the speaker itself

If it does the same using a different computer means that the speaker is faulty.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
