Ctrl Alt Del and then task manager is the first place to start. See what is listed in startup. If you have a lot of stuff booting at startup consider uninstalling or preventing them from startup if you don't need them running all the time. Also 4Gb RAM not nearly enough these days for a modern OS. Especially if you open more then one app at a time or use a browser with many tabs open. Windows will use up almost half that RAM with nothing open just the OS running. Don't use Chrome because it uses a lot of RAM. Consider adding more RAM if possible. A hard drive is much slower then a SSD drive this will also create slowdowns as well. A Core i3 isn't that bad but clearly your weakness is in RAM capacity and the hard drive. If you eliminate startup items and still feel its slow considering investing in a SSD drive and definitely double your RAM to 8Gb capacity will make a lot of difference. You bought a low end notebook with minimal specs and so as it stands the hardware has a few limitations.
New laptop very slow!
Hi I am Shubhang,
I have bought a new laptop a month ago. At starting it worked very smoothly as all new laptops do. But after a week, it begin to work like a slow computer. I have used many junk cleaners and registry cleaners. But they didn't work that much. I have used Iobit systemcare also. After using it I saw a review saying that it makes computer slow by overoptimizing your computer. I don't know that my laptop is slow because of this or not. I have a Bitdefender antivirus also with full version purchased, so there is no chance of virus or malware or whatever.
I have scrolled through many sites searching for speeding up laptop. I have got many ways of boosting laptop, but my laptop didn't work like a new laptop afterwards. Like if I try to open powerpoint after booting, it takes that much time at which our old computer took. I uses my laptop for study, so there is no heavy work. I have disabled fast startup so every time laptop refreshly boots. I cleans junk, optimizes hard disk and have done all the common things that are used to speed up laptop. I can't even use Microsoft edge because i don't know whenever i intalls edge browser it crashes, not responds. I have reinstalled it many times but it didn't work. Please give me truly working ways that truly speeds laptop. Please be sure that you didn't give the ways that are common or listed in the following articles because i have done all of them. And please tell that is windows 10 like this only?
Articles from which I have done all the ways listed- 99 ways, 16 ways, 14 ways, 15 ways.
My laptop has windows 10 installed and there is no unused app installed, updates are regular.
Ram-4 gb, hdd- 1 tb, lenovo ideapad slim 3 with intel core i3 10th gen.
Please help me

2021-11-09T14:40:14+00:00 Can you verify the version and build of Windows 10. Type winver in Search and select the top result, post back the details. Check in Settings > Update and security to see if there are updates waiting and check View update history to see if there are any failing to install.

These cleaning software, if not used correctly, do more harm than good.
I suggest you refer to the article below for tips to improve Windows performance.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/tip...
I don't exclude the possibility of a virus just because you have an premium antivirus installed. Some viruses can pass through an antivirus, including a newly developed one. I have already found viruses on computers protected by corporate antivirus.
I'm sorry if I sounded pessimistic in that regard. But after years of experience, I always do a full scan using more than one antivirus.
Therefore, I suggest you do a full scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner. Download from the link below.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/securi...
I also suggest you do a full scan using Malwarebytes.
Download through this link: https://malwarebytes.com/
IMPORTANT: When installing, a 14-day trial will be activated. I suggest disabling this trial to avoid conflict with your current antivirus. Access the Malwarebytes settings (gear icon at the top of the window), tab "Account" and click "Disable".
After scanning, you can uninstall it or keep it if you want to use it in the future.
It may be that Malwarebytes alone cannot detect, so also use AdwCleaner, it is very effective in removing Adware that can cause performance issues.
Download through this link: https://malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
IMPORTANT: AdwCleaner detects pre-installed software and allows you to remove all of its features to improve Windows performance. It may be software that you need, so ignore this option or uncheck the software in the list provided after scanning.
If nothing is found and the problem persists. I suggest performing a clean boot to see if any third-party program in the background is causing this problem.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...
If the problem does not occur after a clean boot. In this same article, there is a technique to help you identify which program is causing this in "How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot".
After finding the cause or if it does not help, return to normal boot as instructed in "Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting".
Feel free to ask back any questions.
