I have been debating whever I should upgrade my laptop. I mostly use my secondary laptop for school work and research, and some games. Here are my specs:

. 4 Core AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.10 GHz (384KB L1 Cache, 2MB L2 Cache, 4MB L3 Cache)

. 8.00 GB RAM (5.92 GB usable)

. 2 GB AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics

I have heard that Windows 11 can be dodgy with AMD CPUs, has this issue been fixed and should I upgrade? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Freddie-Rayner -

    Thanks for the response

It's always a good practice to backup your files before doing any upgrade on the computer though you will not loss any files during the upgrade, it is better to do a backup just in case something happens. As for the RAM, if you turn on a full visual effects then the consumption would be more than typical. Windows 10 and Windows 11 consume the same amount of system resources.

    Hello again,

I will give Windows 11 a try, just a couple more questions:

Is it a good idea to do a backup of my files before upgrading?

Does windows 11 use more RAM than windows 10?

    Hi Freddie-Rayner-

Thank you for keeping me posted. If your device is compatible with Windows 11, you can upgrade and I would suggest to do that to test your machine. You have 10 days to go back to Windows 10 without any problem if you found some features are not working or there is a system compatibility.

Windows 10 will be supported up unto 2025 if you choose to stay with Windows 10.

Please let me know if you do have questions. Hope this will help and have a blessed day!

    Thanks,

    Kevin B.
