I get the request to select preferences on many websites, which say they have saved the preferences, but the next time I go into the site, it asks again, The preferences have not been saved. Is there something I have done in my settings which is stopping the saving of preferences ?

    Hi Barry,

    I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    You are referring to MS Edge, correct?

    I suggest you clear your browser's cache and cookies and see if the preferences will be saved correctly.

    1. Open "Settings and more (Alt + F)" and select "Settings";
    2. In the left pane, select "Privacy, Search and Services";
    3. Under "Clear browsing data", click on "Choose what to clear";
    4. Under "Time Interval", change to "All time";
    5. Leave marked at least "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files";
    6. Click on "Clean Now";
    7. Close and open your browser.

    If it persists, reset the Microsoft Edge settings.

    1. Select "Settings and more (Alt + F) > Settings";
    2. Select "Reset settings";
    3. On the page that opens, select "Restore settings to their default values";
    4. In the pop-up explaining what data will be deleted, click on "Reset".

    Keep in mind that after following the suggested procedures, websites should ask you to set website preferences the first time you access them.

    I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions.

    I have a separate reply, which was to revert to Factory Settings in Edge, which seems to have cleared the problem from some sites.

    However there are others that do not remember, and I will try your cookie solution for them

    I get the request to select preferences on many websites, which say they have saved the preferences, but the next time I go into the site, it asks again,

    On websites where you do not have a profile, preferences are typically stored in cookies. Therefore to maintain your preferences, be sure to allow cookies for the websites in question.

    Clearing your browser's cache and cookies is a temporary solution, because it gives you browser an opportunity to save new cookies. To avoid this problem in the future, be sure to save the cookies in question.

    A Restore Factory Settings was the answer, having tried the earlier suggestions
