How to get rid of "getting windows ready" message everytime I restart my pc?

I am on windows 10. Lately my pc has been starting up so slow that I have to restart it right away that leads to waiting hours for it to finish the getting windows ready message while restarting. Then when it finishes it still loads my pc up slow with black screen waiting to load up. Then progams not responding at times just making me click on it repeatedly for it to work. Do I need a new pc?

    Hi Kenny Thao,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

It sounds like there is a Windows update stuck on your startup process.

    1
Open the Settings App, then go to Update and security - Windows Updates, is there any updates downloading, pending or installing?

    2
Click your Start Button, type winver and hit Enter

On the resulting dialog, what version of Windows 10 are you running?

    Hi Kenny Thao,

The update will continue in the background at the same speed, even if your are using your PC for other things.

Is it better to let it stay on the settings screen of the update than use my pc for other things? Will it update faster that way? I don't have all the patience in the world

    Hi Kenny Thao,

Okay, wait for those updates to install and see if that message on startup stops.
