I am using a Lenovo Ideapad laptop. I just upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10 after I was prompted. Just after upgrading I see, the touchpad is not working and the driver for the touchpad is missing in the device manager. I have tried several methods found on google and youtube, nothing seems to be working. I would appreciate any help regarding this issue.

    Hi Mr. Greg,

Thank you so much for your advice. I could not come to a solution yet. I tried the steps you provided. As I tried them I have made notes. Please help me with any other suggestions you may have.

    1. I tried to look up in manufacturer's website, they don't have the touchpad driver listed there (HID Compliant touch pad). I also have everything updated.
    2. I could not perform this task, because the driver is missing in the device manager. My friend has the same laptop, he also recently upgraded. I checked his device manager. He has (HID compliant touch pad) extra while I don't. His touchpad is working.
    3. The driver is not there, so couldn't try to uninstall it.
    4. a. 1st link didn't work. b. 2nd link didn't work. No touchpad option in BIOS. c. 3rd link didn't work. No driver was found at the manufacturer's website for the specific model. Found some drivers, installed several drivers for the touchpad. None of them seems to solve the problem. d. I have tried the instructions prior found in the video but didn't help.
    5. There is no touchpad option in the settings
    6. Didn't work
    7. Reinstalling didn't solve the issue.

    Sincerely,

    Emon

The company listed the same driver for all versions of windows.

I didn't see a restore point that belongs to windows 10. I found only one restore point that belongs to windows 11.

I uninstalled all the updates I found, still, it could not roll me back to windows 11. What should I do now? Should I install a windows 10 iso file? Windows 10 was more stable than Windows 11, also battery efficient.

Hi Emon. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

I'll give you all possible fixes for touchpad issues. Even if you've completed a step please do it again in this sequence, report back results.

    1. Update the Touchpad driver from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you also have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.
    2. If that doesn't help then enter Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button, go to Mice > Touchpad and then Driver tab. Choose Update Driver, then Automatic to see if it gets a better driver that resolves the problem. If not try Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick to try all previously installed drivers.
    3. If that doesn't work then try uninstalling driver, Restart PC using keyboard to Ctrl Alt Del, on blue screen tab to Power Icon in bottom right, press Enter, arrow down to Restart, press Enter to restart to reinstall the driver.
    4. Try the troubleshooting steps here:

    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad to go over the Settings. Then choose Additional Settings which opens the Mouse properties box. The Touchpad software installs a tab onto it - usually the last one - that should have more settings to check, including a checkbox to Disable Touchpad when USB pointing device is attached. This prevents palm drag from causing the cursor to jump
    2. If this was caused by Windows Update(s) then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Update History, then uninstall them from the link there, and immediately check for these again and hide with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.droidwin.com/how-to-stop-only-a-spe...

You can also go into Repair Mode by whichever method works here: to use the new Uninstall Updates button in Advanced Troubleshoot Options.

You can also use System Restore from within Windows or the above Repair Mode to get back before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them:

    https://itechhacks.com/system-restore-windows-11/

    1. If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest version: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Did you check PC maker's downloads webpage for all previous editions of Windows (like 7, 8, 8.1) for the touchpad driver. You need to install something so Windows Update can update it. It may not be scanning it at all if it doesn't show up.

Did you do the Repair Install? If not, see if you can System Restore to a point before the problem started:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started. If System Restore is not enabled on C drive do that now so it's available in the future.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...
