I don't know why but after the latest windows 10 update i have been having these wihite/gray circles areas appearing around my mouse cursor after a seemingly random number of ctrl clicks with a minimum of two and what seems to be a max of 10 in rapid succession. It should not have anything to do with "Show location of pointer when i press CTRL key" as it is not checked and I hope disabled. It is really irritating and I don't know how or why it happens. It is very distracting when playing games. my windows build is version 21H1

I have posted a screenshot of how it looks.

I hope there is some one out there that can help me get this olved as i don't want to have to reinstall windows.

You could have two possible settings changing the accessibility feature of the PC. You do not need to do a system restore to fix this.

Solution One: Change mouse properties in windows settings. Directions:

    1. In the search box on your task bar, search for Mouse, and select it from the list.
    2. Once you're in Mouse settings, select Additional mouse options from the links on the right side of the page.
    3. In Mouse Properties, on the Pointer Options tab, at the bottom, select Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key, and then select OK.

This solution is provided here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/find-your-mouse-pointer-fast-dbc1d222-778c-da15-5218-cb8336074554

Solution Two: This only applies if you have "Powertoys" installed.

    1. Open Powertoys
    2. Navigate to 'Mouse utilities' on the side panel.
    3. Turn off 'Enable Find My Mouse'

This is not the solution. The solution is in accessibility settings either directly associated with windows, or a utility app like 'Powertoys'. I believe that resorting to a system restore instead of understanding the problem is not good advice to give members who are trying to trouble shoot their systems.

Thanks! PowerToys was the culprit for me.

I am glad that was the solution! It was something that drove me bonkers when I installed Powertoys.

Thanks a lot DasRaw. It did not even occur to me that it was a powertoys setting. It was indeed the second solution. I installed powertoys a while back and kinda forgot about it to an extend and just took it for granted. Must have been one of the newer powertoys updates that enabled it by default or maybe i turned it on and forgot about.
