Audio Crackle/Popping caused by Windows 10 itself ?

Lately I've noticed that my Audio is crackling/popping when playing videos/music/games ( when audio starts and stops or i switch videos)

This crackle and pop is over USB and AUX and Optical aswell

I have zero idea what it could be at this point because ive tried every possible troubleshooting step out there already, and im looking here if there is an obscure fix i havent seen yet.

Things I've tried:

  • Clean Reinstall of Windows
  • Up-and Downgrade of Audio/Headset Drivers
  • Up-and Downgrade of BIOS
  • Use the bios in Stock settings ( not xmp or PBO)
  • Use PCI Gen 3
  • manual setting of MSI Modes for soundcards and other devices
  • disable Fastboot and hybernate
  • maximum Performance Energy Mode

-plug my headset into aux/optical/and usb ports

  • tried different brands of headsets (4 headsets in total Pro X, Kraken Tournament, Arctis Pro, Hyper X)

-tried those headsets on different pcs/surface (which all had this popping noise aswell (which led me to believe this is an Windows Issue)

  • i have all drivers updated
  • I have no DPC Latency Issues (checked with Latency Mon)
  • ran Sfc and DISM and Chkdsk on all drives
  • ran Memtest84
  • checked for Malware
  • tried cleanboot and safemode
  • always disabled enhancements and spatial sounds on the headsets
  • set the format to the standards by either devices or windows ( 44.1kHz- 48kHz)

i wonder if im alone with this issue or if this is soemthing with my pc or if its windows being buggy again.

    so after some testing
and getting a new headset for further testing
i can say that this is just something from my head (probably)

because i dont know if there is any relevance
but as soon as i plug the usb headset and my usb microphone into any usb port
    i get " Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}. Error: 0xC0000001 "

i dont get that with any usb device other than usb audio devices

so i dont know if this is related to something ?

So you are saying that you have the only computers where Windows is showing a major fault? Yes, that would be a lottery-winning type of gamble.

No, it could easily be a power issue that you can not detect. Static on electrical lines happens a lot and for many large companies it is a major real and costly problem. And there are probably many other things they all have in common besides the fact that you own them.

What I am saying is that no one I know has the issue and that is on many different systems in many different areas of the world. So all I can suggest is that you look at what is common to all of them instead of in areas that would be affecting literally millions of others.

Please realize I am an independent here to help and if I thought there was even the slightest chance it was a Windows issue I would tell you. However, I also should be willing to tell you when it is not as I have been doing,

    Here to help,

maybe i didnt describe the issue clear enough and its causing confusion

the pop i mean is usually happening when you switch audio while its playing on a bassy note or high note, for example with youtube, if i switch from one video while its playing to a different one, it sounds like a fraction of a second the sound of the old video is kept
however i have no issues in latencymon

a different way of causing the pop is in certain videos if i skip ahead ( click in the progressbar)
    i get pops

the crackle is when i use the audioslider of vlc or youtube, while audio is playing
if i use the main windows one i get no crackling at all

again here no issues in latencymon

maybe im stupid and im thinking that this is an issue eventhough its normal
i dont know at this point

the connections aren't loose in my case
and as far as ive seen everyone ive asked had the same "pop and crackle" since the last few months

they just didnt care about it

for me i just was unfortunate enough to notice it and now it bugs me

i think that the pop is normal when switching audio/videos because of the audio basically cutting of.

i just need confirmation on that.

i mean, it cant be anything to do with DPC or ISR latencies
usually my highest DPC latency is around 500µs with either classpnp.sys, nvlddmkm.sys, ntoskrnl.exe or wdf01000.sys and thats just a rare spike
(in 3 hours of running latencymon while gaming it showed me this DPC count (execution time 500-999 µs): 89 and zero for 250-500 )
and the highes ISR is usually wdf01000.sys with 56ish µs

    everything hardware wise is okay
    i have no power issues

and if you say that every pc and headset i checked has this issue but that its a hardware issue or software or whatever
    i should start playing lottery
if i managed to get 4 different pc with the same issue

A multimeter would not even come close to detecting the kind of static that might affect a computer's more sensitive circuitry such as the audio. Total power issues an MM can detect, static not so much.

Please, realize if it were just Windows that millions and millions would be having the problem including me. So there has to be something about your systems that is particularly affecting them. Again, the best bets are environmental or installed programs.

Since you performed a clean installation if it were a program then you would have had to reinstall the same trouble-causing ones. 3rd party antivirus are notorious for causing such issues but they are not alone.

Have you set up any overclocking or have other enhancement settings or programs in use?

Does the noise/static happen from all possible sources such as CD, DVD, MPG, internet sites, and others?

    Here to help,

    Rob

    ive tried that

i also checked my pc with a multimeter for grounding issues , everything in the green

i wouldnt write here if it was something as simple as disabling enhancements or setting the frequencies

As far as i now know from people ive talked to, its something with perception aswell
as in some people learn to just endure the pops and occasional crackle
    and some people dont

ive ordered a pci usb expansion card to see if that does anything
one thing i could try would be a portable install of linux

as i said before, this has to be windows and its latest update causing this to some pcs
    i cant explain it otherwise
